National Foundation Day in Japan

11 Feb

11 February in Japan is a Public Holiday. Many people spend the day visiting friends and relatives. As you can see from the photo, it’s a Friday snow-day, which means most people are indoors on the Public Holiday. The day is very much a day to focus on Japan – a day to reflect on the establishment of the nation, and for people to feel proud of their nation. In terms of pride, it is similar to Australia Day, though they are not as over the top with the flag waving, flag wearing thing which occurs on January 26 downunder. Happy National Foundation Day (Kenkoku Kinen no Hi) – I am gonna go make another snow man !
